Update on Marilynn's Love Life

It's been a while since Marilynn has gotten to hang out with her boyfriend since she was sick and he was at Disneyland. But, he finally returned and brought her back a little Minnie Mouse. She now won't go to sleep at night without it - she gives it a kiss good night - and she has even named it after him. So, Marilynn finally got to hang out with her little friend all weekend - they played house in her room (don't tell Daddy), went to the park together and shared a bag of pretzels.

Come On, Baby, Light My Fire

We had dinner with our good friends Byron and Laurie at their new house in Woodinville. It only took them 6 months after moving in to invite us over :-). Just as we sat down for dinner, a transformer busted and the electricity went out on the whole street. So, it was the perfect opportunity to light a fire outside and toast some marshmallows. This was the girls' first campfire and the first time Marilynn had a s'more. Thanks, Byron and Laurie, for a great evening!

Coffee Talk

The past two Saturday mornings I've ended up at Starbucks with the girls, so it was interesting when we were at the park this morning and Marilynn said "Mommy, I want to have coffee with you." It was such a sweet ask - just time for girl talk and a chance to feel like a grown-up. So, we headed to the nearest Starbucks and ordered one juice box, a tall nonfat mocha, and an 8 oz warm water stirred with formula powder. I'll let you guess who got what.

Perhaps this will be our mother-daughter tradition going forward - well, at least until the girls don't want to hang out with Mommy on Saturdays anymore.

Back From New York

Blogging has been light this week (rather, I should say non-existent) because I've been in New York at the launch event for the G1 (Google phone with my client HTC). It was a great success, but I'm happy to be home again. I am grateful to my dear husband who played nurse, hairdresser, chef, chauffeur, maid, mommy and daddy all week while I was away. You're the best!

Happy Days Are Here Again

Marilynn danced last night. Ken ate an entire plate of Fettuccine Alfredo. Erika is smiling again. I slept 10 hours in my own bed - without kids. Life is good. Thank you, God, for making my family better again.

One Sick Baby

Just when you thought it couldn't get much worse, Erika started throwing up last night. This too shall pass, I know. But, it hasn't been much fun getting there.

One Sick Daddy and One Sick Mommy

Ugh. Now Ken and I have whatever Marilynn had. Not a fun time in the Mills household right now. But, Marilynn seems to be on the mend - thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers. Now, please pray that Erika doesn't get it and Ken and I recover soon.

One Sick Little Girl

Poor Marilynn started screaming in the middle of the night last night. I ran to her room to see what was wrong, and she said "Mommy, I spilled." Trying to figure out what that meant, I picked her up in my arms and held her and then smelled a strange stomach acid smell and then felt warm throw up all over the front of me. Okay, I have to admit, this was the grossest mommy moment ever. Marilynn has NEVER thrown up before - hardly even baby spit up. I cleaned up her sheets, washed her hair, gave her some water to drink, and tried to put her back to bed. No way, Jose. She did not want to be in that room any more, and I can't blame her. So, I brought her into bed with me and Ken. An hour later, she puked again - but this time all over my pillow. Then, Ken left the bed and went downstairs (who could blame him?). Two more upchucks and two more sheet changes, and we finally both fell asleep at 3 a.m. Marilynn then had a pretty rough day today -no appetite, more throw up, just not herself. I'm praying that tonight goes better . . .

Day at the Beach with Daddy

It was a gorgeous sunny day today, and Ken took the girls out for some fun in the sun. Marilynn made some new friends and got really deep in the water. Wasn't scared at all! I really hope summer stays for a little longer - at least until the weekend so I can enjoy it :-).

Erika at Four Months

Today marks Erika's four month birthday! She's already becoming so animated with her babbling, giggling, and squirming. Her four-month check up is on Monday, so I'm anxious to see how much she has grown since she was born and if we can start her on solid food yet.

Marilynn's Pack Back

Marilynn started up pre-school again after a short summer break. She decided that diaper bags are so not cool anymore. So, she got out the backpack that Debbie got her last year and said that she wants to take that to school instead. You can't take the thing off of her. She's wears it everwhere and calls it her "Pack Back."

Children's Museum

While we were at the Seattle Center, we wandered into the Seattle Children's Museum, and I just want to know how come no one ever told me about this place? It was Heaven for toddlers (okay, and for me too). They have it set up like a little town, so kids can go to the grocery store, serve food at a restaurant, pump gas, go to the post office, etc. I never knew adult life could seem so interesting to a little kid! We stayed there until well past nap time. When Ken said it was time to head home, I was like "Nooooo! Can't we stay longer??"

They had a bakery set up so you could frost and decorate your own cake. Marilynn put about 1/2 a pound of sprinkles on her cake. I really wanted to frost one too, so Marilynn let me share hers.

Marilynn served us some great pretend tacos and beans and rice at the Mexican restaurant!

Not sure what this was, but Marilynn was fascinated by it. . .

The grocery store was too cool. It had a meat market, a frozen food section, produce stand, build your own pizza stand, etc. Then, you take your groceries to the little check out isle. Marilynn looked like she was on that game show "Super Market Sweep."

Seattle Center

We played tourists in our own town and went to the Seattle Center today. Marilynn took her first Ferris Wheel ride (Ken was more scared than she was), then they rode the carasoul for something a little closer to the ground. We then headed over to the fountains for a picnic lunch.

Mark This Day in the Baby Book!

Erika rolled over this morning! She has been very close a number of times this past week, but today she did it! She was laying on her back on my bed while I was getting ready for work and I watched in slow motion as she turned onto her stomach. She must have been exhausted from the experience because she fell asleep and slept on her stomach for the next hour or so. My baby is growing up . . .

Future Farmer?

Marilynn got a green thumb in Sequim this weekend. She loved picking carrots from Granny's garden, harvesting potatoes and picking fresh blueberries (which turned her into a blue thumb). She fed the ducks and made sure that everything was just right on Farm Nilsen.
